Sony Online Entertainment has pulled back the veil on the details of their third DownLoadable Content for the popular and sometimes controversial DC Universe Online.

The new DLC for DCUO is entitled “The Battle for Earth and will have you sizing up against Braniac himself, as well as a major new threat. Also included is a new Raid, as well as new adventures and the Earth Powerset.

History of the DC Universe

DC Universe

Jens Anderson, the DC Universe Online Creative Director had this to say; “With The Battle for Earth, one war will come to a head, while another begins as we introduce a new chapter to the DCUO story. The Battle for Earth also has so much new action to jump in to including a massive Raid where you fight Brainiac’s final Avatar – the Avatar of Magic, new Duos, a new Alert and lots of new fighting to do in South Gotham.”

The new content will be hitting both the PC and the PS3 well, “soon” SOE stated.

Here’s more details on the new content straight from the PR:

The Battle for Earth offers players a new storyline with more action, epic battles, a ninth power set, and opens up a new chapter featuring a pair of the most legendary DC Universe figures ever – from the future. DC Universe Online players can look forward to new open world content, Duos, an Alert, and two Raids: Themyscira – Experience a new Raid on Wonder Woman’s home island that pits players against Chimeric Brainiacs and, ultimately, the deadly Avatar of Magic. Players will fight alongside mythical creatures such as Cyclops, Hydra and Colossus, while simultaneously protecting key units of Amazons and Beastimorphs.

This week we saw the GDC happen, which made it a somewhat quiet week for gaming news. Nothing amazing happened at the GDC, but we did get to see an updated graphics engine by Unreal, some screenshots of MechWarrior Online, and Skyrim won the game of the year. Chaelura found herself engrossed in Mass Effect 3, Galvion could not keep his potty mouth shut, and enjoyed some old school portable gaming, and BloodEagle is rediscovering a love for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Don’t forget to send us some feedback. All of the ways to contact us can be found on our aptly named “Contact us” page.

Genius is 1% Inspiration and 99% Perspiration:...

2% perspiration

I believe that something well done is 98% preparation and 2% perspiration. If my calculations are correct then, our Pilot Episode should be spectacular! I have spent the last three weeks doing so much behind the scene work to make this Podcast excellent, and it has finally come time to see if it pays off. I would equate our Pilot with a baby Horse, just birthed from its mother, and trying to find its footing and walk. It very well might sound a slight bit shaky, but soon enough it will be running through the fields at a gallop.
